We have selected Architecture.com as the world's very best website on Architecture.
The Architecture.com website is produced by the Royal Institute of British Architects (RIBA) whose headquarters at 66 Portland Square, London W1, is shown on this page. The building, designed by George Grey Wornum, was built in 1934 to commemorate the institute's centenary. The largest section of the Architecture.com website is the freely available Online Catalogue to the RIBA Library.
The RIBA Library is the world's leading architectural library, with more than 135,000 books, pamphlets, technical reports, conference proceedings, exhibition catalogues, and standards, published from 1478 to the present day. It also contains sets of 2,000 periodicals in many languages. The Drawings Collection comprises 650,000 architectural drawings by British and foreign architects, including nearly 300 designs and sketches by Andrea Palladio. The photograph collection comprises over 700,000 images of architecture worldwide. A selection of these are available to view online at the Ribapix website.
Other sections of the Architecture.com website cover Find an Architect (with a directory to more than 20,000 architects in the UK), Fees, Contracts, Careers in Architecture, Building Futures, Client Forums, and Sustainability. There is also a directory of links to several hundred architectural websites worldwide.
