We have selected The Arctic Circle as the world's very best website on the Arctic.

The Arctic Circle website is produced by Norman Chance of the University of Connecticut, USA. The project originated at a symposium at the University of Connecticut in 1995. The aim of the Arctic Circle website is to promote interest in the Arctic around three main themes: natural resources, history & culture, and social equity and environmental justice.

The Arctic Circle website is organized into the following main sections: Natural Resources, History & Culture, Social Equity & Environmental Justice, Museum, and Virtual Classroom. Each section contains several illustrated articles.

Other sections cover: Introduction, Resources, GIS/Maps, Search, and Featured Site. The Resources section includes links to relevant websites in groups which include: Bibliographic & Research Databases, Educational Programs & Institutions, Environmental Organizations, Literature, Media, and Music.
