ABOUT 'ROYAL SOCIETY FOR THE PROTECTION OF BIRDS'
The
Royal Society for the Protection of Birds (RSPB) is a UK charity working on the
conservation of, and public education about, birds. Founded in 1889, it has now
grown to be Europe's larges wildlife conservation charity.
The RSPB website is organized into the following main sections: Advice, Birds,
Gardens, Countryside, Reserves, What's On, Support, Join, and Shop. There are
also sections for Events & Groups Near You, Getting Involved, For Professionals,
and For Kids.
The Birds section has advice on watching birds, and an A-Z of several hundred
British Birds. For each bird there is a description, an image, a map giving
distribution of the bird, and sections on Breeding, Passage, Where to See It,
What Does it Eat, What Does it Sound Like, When to See it, and Reserves. Video
clips are available for most birds, and also audio clips of the bird's song.
