The Commission a Portrait website represents over 100 professional portrait painters. It is based in a modern conversion of a 1930s telephone exchange near the Tate Modern gallery, at 18 La Gare, 51 Surrey Row, London SE1 0BZ. The website is designed to help those considering commissioning a portrait. It contains hundreds of examples of its artists' work, and there is an 'ideas basket' into which users can put examples of portraits in which they are interested. The staff of Commission a Portrait are happy to discuss the finer points of commissioning on the telephone, and arrange for meetings with artists.
