ABOUT 'SHEET MUSIC DIRECT'
The Sheet Music Direct website offers digital downloads of more than 20,000 pieces of sheet music. Each is purchased for a fee, with appropriate royalties being paid to the artists. The website is jointly operated by two leading sheet music publishers: The Music Sales Group (based in the UK), and Hal Leonard Corporation (based in the USA).
Sheet music is delivered immediately over the internet, using the Scorch browser plug-in. Once music has been purchased online, users can print the sheet music, can browse through every page online, and can listen to a full MIDI playback of the track. If users have an instrument that uses a different tuning to standard concert pitch, they can transpose the top line into their instrument by using a 'Substitute Instrument' feature.
The Sheet Music Direct website also offers downloadable audio backing tracks, and downloadable video lessons. The video lessons are usually about 20 minutes in length; a 30 second preview clip can be viewed without charge.
The website is organised into the following main sections: Browse Albums, Artists & Composers A to Z, Bestselling Sheet Music; New Sheet Music Releases; and Free Downloads. Sheet music can be browsed by Artist/Composer, Genres, and Arrangements. There are also sections on Charts, and In the News.
