Deans of Huntly is a specialist manufacturer of high quality shortbread, based in Huntly, Aberdeenshire, Scotland AB54 8JX. The story of Deans of Huntley began in 1975 in the kitchen of Helen Dean. Her husband, Bill, was a Drum Major in the local pipe band; he suggested that she should sell her delicious home made shortbread to raise money for the pipe band.



This fund raising exercise was so successful that Helen set up a shortbread bakery in Huntly. With its increasing success, the bakery moved in 1992 to purpose built premises on the outskirts of Huntly. It now sells its premium shortbread through independent stores, and through supermarket chains including Tesco and Sainsbury. Deans of Huntly prides itself on retaining the baking techniques that originated in Helen's kitchen.

 

The Deans of Huntly shortbread range, which is fully described on its website, comprises six product lines: Everyday Range Shortbread, Everyday Premium Range Shortbread, Indulgence Range Shortbread, Foodservice Range Shortbread, and Shortbread Biscuit Collection. There is also a line of Hand Baked Oatcakes.

 

There is also a Deans Speciality Shortbread Collection, developed specially for the gift and delicatessen sectors. This offers shortbread in six flavours: All Butter, Apple Crumble, Lemon & Oatflake, Praline Pecan, Butterscotch, and Belgian Choc Chunk.
