ABOUT 'BRITISH SUNDIAL SOCIETY'
The British Sundial Society is a society with more than 500 members interested in the history, design, and making of sundials. It was formed in 1989.
The British Sundial Society website is organised into the following main sections: Where is the Sun?, Dials of Distinction, Sundial Society Bulletin, Fixed Dial Register, Sundial Formulae & Glossary, Sundial Newsletter, Mass Dials, Sundial Books & Publications, Sundial Makers, Membership, Sundial Conferences, British Sundial Society Contacts, and Web Links.
The Sundial Makers section lists and describes more than 40 sundial makers, mainly in the UK. Most have websites describing their work, and the commissions which they undertake.
The Fixed Dial Register is a database of sundials throughout the UK. It currently comprises more than 5,600 sundials, the result of more than 8,000 reports by British Sundial Society members. The Register is available in a printed version, and also as a CD ROM.
