ABOUT 'COFFEE REVIEW'
The
Coffee Review website was established
in 1997, and is edited by coffee expert Kenneth Davids. The aim of Coffee Review
is to entertain and educate amateurs and professionals about coffee by
undertaking blind reviews of coffees. The blind reviews, or 'cuppings', are
undertaken by Kenneth Davids and other coffee experts.
The coffee reviews involve scoring coffees on a scale of 1 (low) to 10 (high)
for aroma, acidity, body, flavor, and aftertaste. The degree or darkness of
roast is measured using a specially modified sprectrophotometer known as an
Agtron. The scoring system is high for lightest roast (up to 95) and low for
darkest roast (down to 25).
In addition to reviews, the Coffee Review website has a comprehensive Coffee
Reference section, with articles grouped into the following categories: Coffee
Basics, Coffee Categories, Coffee & Health, From Crop to Cup, Coffee Culture,
and Espresso. The Coffee Basics section covers: Introduction, Coffee History,
Coffee Language, Tasting or 'Cupping' Coffee, and Tasting Vocabulary.
