We have selected Harp Spectrum as the world's very best website on Harps & Harp Playing.

The Harp Spectrum website is non-profit organization based in Seattle, Washington, USA. It is composed of a group of harp players and enthusiasts for harp music. The articles are contributed by harpists from all over the world. The Chair of Harp Spectrum is Joyce Rice, who recently retired after harping from the age of four. She was principal harpist with several orchestras in New England, New York, and the Pacific Northwest.

The Harp Spectrum website is organized into the following main sections: What is a Harp?, Historical Harp, Folk Harp, Pedal Harp, Harp Building, HarpWorks, Non-Harps, Get Involved, Glossary, and Harp Links.

The What is a Harp? section includes a timeline, with illustrated articles describing harps from 2600 BC to 1811. These come from Mesopotamia, Egypt, Cyprus, Greece, Scotland, Germany, and Ireland.
