ABOUT 'NATIONAL HOCKEY LEAGUE'
The
National Hockey League (NHL)
is the governing body for the professional sport of ice hockey in the USA and
Canada. The League was founded in 1917 in Montreal, Canada; it now has 30 teams,
24 of which are based in the USA, and six in Canada. Because ice hockey started
in Canada, Canadians have historically comprised the majority of the players in
NHL teams.
