ABOUT 'LIGHTHOUSEFANS'

The LighthouseFans website, published by phtographer Cary Liao, is a growing user-contributed database with descriptions, photographs, and reviews of lighthouses around the world. There are also discussion forums. The aim of the website is to share information on lighthouses, and to promote global awareness of and support for lighthouses.

For each lighthouse in the database there are photographs capable of being enlarged to full size, information on date of construction, date of present tower, height of tower, and height of focal plane. There is also information on whether the lighthouse is open to the public. An online calculator can be used to work out your distance from the lighthouse, by entering a USA zip code.

Many of the lighthouse photographs on the website are available for purchase as high-quality prints.
