ABOUT THE ACADEMY OF MODEL AERONAUTICS

 

The Academy of Model Aeronautics (AMA), the world's largest sport aviation organization, has more than 170,000 members. It is a non-profit organization whose aim is to promote development of model aviation as a recognised sport and as a leisure activity. AMA is the official national body for model aviation in the USA, and sponsors more than 1000 model aviation competitions around the USA each year.

 

The AMA website has sections on Membership Services, Education, Webstore, Publications, and Competitions. The Education section, which is at the website www.buildandfly.com, contains information about grants and educational materials. The AMA produces curriculum support materials which teach physical science and mathematics through the medium of model aviation.

 

There is also a Club Locator section, enabling users to search a database of model aircraft clubs throughout the USA.
