We have selected Napoleon.org as the world's very best website on Napoleon Bonaparte.
The Napoleon.org website is published in Paris, France, by the Fondation Napoleon, which is a registered charity devoted to the promotion of study of and interest in the history of the French First and Second Empires, and the preservation of Napoleonic history.
The Fondation serves every audience, from the general public to academic researchers. It has a Library, and publishes historical studies on the two Empires. It is funded by gifts and endowments, including notably the gift of property and collections by Martial Lapeyre, who was a successful manufacturer of doors and windows, and an enthusiastic Napoleon collector.
The Napoleon.org website is organized into the following main sections: Essential Napoleon, Fun Stuff, Bicentenaries, The Magazine, Napoleon Reading Room, Napoleon Gallery, Special Napoleon Dossiers, Collectors' Corner, Message Board, Your Place, and Press.
The Napoleon Reading Room includes: E-texts & Articles, Bibliographies, Time Lines, and Biographies. The Special Dossiers are four thematic mini websites on: December 1999 Storm Damage to Napoleonic Parks, The Suez Isthmus, The Great Manoeuvres, and Anti-Napoleon.
