produced by interactive media company Eduweb of St.Paul, Minnesota, USA. Eduweb
is a developer of online learning experiences for museums and school teaching,
in art, history and science.
The Amazon Interactive website is based on field research into indigenous
ecotourism in the Ecuadorian Amazon. It is intended to show the physical and
human geography of the Amazon as well as indicating the risks and benefits of
ecotourism as a development strategy.
The website is organized into the following main sections: Where is the Amazon? How
Rainy is the Rainforest? Who Lives There? Making a Living, and Conservation &
Coffee. There is also an Ecotourism Simulation Game, which enables users to plan
and manage a locally controlled ecotourism project. The challenge is to make
ecotourism sustainable.
