ABOUT 'RIVERS OF THE WORLD'
The Rivers of the World website is produced by Susan Shears of the Platts Heath Primary School, Maidstone, Kent, England. It is published in the Kent National Grid for Learning website.
The Rivers of the World website is organised into the following six main sections: River Features, Rivers of the World, Photo Gallery, Planning, River Worksheets, and Children's River Work. The River Features section covers more than 30 topics, including: Braiding, Erosion, Gorges, Navigation, Recreation, Streams, Underground Rivers, the Water Cycle, Canals, Estuaries, Hydro-electricity, Oxbox Lakes, Reservoirs, and Waterfalls.
The Rivers of the World section contains illustrated articles on several of the world's notable rivers, including the Angara River, the Colorado River, the Mekong River, The Rhine River, the River Severn, and the Zaire River. The Photo Gallery includes photos of rivers, of Natural Features, and of Articficial Man Made Features.
The Worksheets section contains 90 worksheets, and ten quizzes. Worksheet topics include: Courses of Rivers, Waterfalls & Gorges, Planning a 3D River Model, Erosion, Deposition, and Relation Between Sediment Size and Speed of Travel of Water.
